Rock IT recently wrote a comprehensive Home Internet Security guide for parents to help secure their kids computers in time for home schooling due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Our Managing Director, Nik Devidas, was interviewed on Australia’s ABC National News on 15 April as part of a wider story about the challenges facing parents when home schooling.

Some of the key challenges facing parents are centered around the need for kids to be online and many will be largely unsupervised as their parents are working. This could lead to many children inadvertently clicking on things they shouldn’t, leading to virus infections and potentially even divulging personally identifiable data to third parties.

Steps to setup kids for secure home computer use:

  1. Setup an email account for your child
  2. Use a password manager
  3. Implement a content filter
  4. Install Antivirus and anti-malware software
  5. Setup Windows Family to schedule and limit screen time
