Get your business back up and running after a Cyberattack

It’s not just the big guys getting breached – it’s the small companies too. And whilst you may have some pretty good security measures in place (check out our top 3 tips), there is currently no way of being 100% secure online.

So what can you do if you are compromised in some way?

  1. Restore from backups – of course you have great backups, so restoring is the number 1 way to recover from data loss. Sounds simple, right? Well you’d be surprised how many people have poor backup strategies. Don’t just believe your backup manager – test your backups periodically by performing test restores.
  2. Ensure that data is being stored sensibly – that means ensuring that your data isn’t split across multiple platforms, such as spreading your data across Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and your local fileserver. Have a documented plan of where your data is stored and how it is managed across your computer fleet.
  3. Disaster Recovery (DR) – Backup is just a part of a DR System. Having a recovery environment standing-by, waiting for you to restore your backups to. You also need the right people and processes available to recover at the time you need

It’s always best to have these processes documented and reviewed periodically. We all hope that you never need to use these systems, but you will be glad you put in the efforts should you be required to call on them!
